Applied Sciences Group, Inc. is awarded additional $104,000 Federal Contract from the VA Buffalo, NY October 6, 2011: Applied Sciences Group, Buffalo was awarded a $104,000 federal contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), 2010 Veterans Health Administration Employee Innovation Competition to develop a dynamic hyperlink prototype to enhance the My HealtheVet (MHV) online portal’s Refill Prescription Information Detail.
Currently, the VA Central Mail Out Pharmacies (CMOP) sends the majority of outpatient medications to Veterans (patients) through a variety of modes including the United States Postal Service and United Parcel Service. In order for patients to track the delivery of their mailed medications they must telephone their local VA Medical Center. This resulted in an increased number of phone calls to VA Pharmacy staff and decreased patient satisfaction. By developing an online tracking functionality, quality of care will be improved and the new application will make patient access more efficient.
This is the third VA project Applied Sciences Group has been awarded in as many years. The first project was to develop an Augmented Wireless Communications Network for the Spinal Cord Injury Center Community Living Center at the James A. Haley VA in Tampa, Florida. The second project was to develop an Android mobile application for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet that would allow VA field agents to securely collect health and quality of life information on homeless veterans. Upon further review, the VA has updated that project to include parallel development of the mobile application on the Apple iPad 2 when it is deployed in January 2012.
