Applied
Sciences Group was founded in February 1993
in the Cheektowaga, NY home of the grandmother of one of the
three founding partners. Applied Sciences Group was founded
on the belief that there were compelling market opportunities
for an engineering firm specializing in the development
of factory automation and custom software solutions.
The trio launched the Company on the basis of their relationships
with Control Techniques
and Praxair.
Control
Techniques, a manufacturer of industrial drives, asked
us to develop a custom software application that would
allow a plant engineer to configure many networked drives from
a single location. High speed material handling systems rely
heavily on coordinated drive systems, and this tool greatly
reduced the labor involved in getting such systems up and
running.
Praxair, Inc. is an industrial gas supplier which
provides an enormous range of gas products to its industrial
clients throughout the world. They came to ASG when they wanted
to develop a standard control systems methodology and
then implement that control strategy at hundreds of locations. The strategy
developed is scalable enough to use on anything from
small skid mounted systems to complete plant systems used
to fill trucks or supply pipelines.
Throughout the years,
Applied Sciences Group has expanded its service base
to include embedded system and SCADA
software solutions.
In 1999, Applied Sciences Group acquired the assets
of energy management system
supplier, Towne Applied Technology. Towne Applied Technology developed a software-based
scheduling and control software product called TIMBER. The culmination of ASG and Towne’s
expertise enabled the Company to apply its software engineering and project management skills to
commercial and industrial building control applications. The TIMBER product has undergone continued
development with options for interface with a variety of Building Control Systems.
In 2002, Applied Sciences Group opened an
office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, through which plant-floor
automation solutions and
services are provided to the rapidly growing Toronto
metropolitan area.
When the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences was created in 2006,
Applied Sciences Group became a premier member of their Corporate Partner Program. Over the years
we have contributed to the acceleration of Biotech and medical device development taking projects
from the lab to commercialized products. Two products of special note are the
SmartPill and
the Hickey Catheter.
In 2007, Applied Sciences Group was engaged by Medgraph in Rochester, New York to develop the database and web
interface for a remote monitoring system. The system collects diabetes patient readings and transmits
them to a remote server for storage and examination by health-care professionals.
Applied Sciences Group will also be taking the next step with
Scivanta Corporation in
advancing the development of the Hickey Catheter. Scivanta licensed the technology from the University of Buffalo.
Applied Sciences Group participated in the early development of
the device.
Today’s manufacturers and medical device developers need their projects done on time and on budget. With
over 30 engineers, Applied Sciences Group is committed to being a customer driven organization, and collaborating
with our clients. ASG has the expertise and experience to get the job done right!

The strength and diversity of our client
list is testament to the Company's
software engineering and project management skills.
